The vintage scales in this photo are originally from England,

and an obvious choice for Juanita's interpretation of the Full Moon in Libra.

Once again, gracias Juanita, and Happy Birthday!

Two weeks ago, when the Sun moved into Libra, we celebrated Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox when day and night are equal. This morning, shortly after sunrise, the Moon joins her brother the Sun at 13˚24’ Libra and together they conjunct Mars who sits at 13˚58’.

In addition, we have a Capricorn Pluto slowing down since the 1st of October and stations to go forward on the same day as the New Moon. Not far behind is Saturn who moves forward next week, with Jupiter and Mercury the week after that.

All this planetary action makes for tumultuous sky energy that we'll surely be feeling down here on Earth. But it also makes this a juicy New Moon and an ideal opportunity to bring back into balance that which isn’t, especially when it comes to our relationships. But be sure to wait until tomorrow when the Moon moves into Scorpio before doing your New Moon Ritual.

Is it any wonder, that scales are the symbol for Libra? Ruled by Venus, it is the sign of Justice.

To show impartiality and objectivity, she is blindfolded, holding the scales of Libra in her left hand (female/intuitive) and the sword of Mars in her right (male/intellect).

Note that Mars rules Aries, who sits opposite to Libra in the zodiac, balancing each other out perfectly.

The New Moon in Libra urges us to re-evaluate our role within the important connections in our lives. This includes any and all partnership - romantic liaisons, family members, friendships, and business rapports. With Mercury in retrograde until October 18th, this is a juicy time to reflect, re-evaluate, and re-set, before the Sun moves into Scorpio on the 23rd.

“No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity,

if you can't look back on having given love and attention

to your own family,

what have you really accomplished?”

– Lee Iacocca, Automobile Executive & Libra

The peacekeepers of the zodiac, Libras are natural born diplomats with strong negotiating skills, always insisting on the give and take in their quest for unity. Because they are so charming, they are successful at creating conformity, as people get easily pulled in by this likeable sign.

“Imagine there’s no countries It isn’t hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer But I’m not the only one I hope someday you’ll join us And the world will be as one.” Imagine, written by John Lennon,

Singer, Song Writer, Peace Activist & Libra

Libras work hard at making things look smooth and easy. They love it when things fit together, falling perfectly and naturally in place. Where they tend to have a challenge, is in making a decision, as they endlessly probe all sides of a situation, in search of that sturdy centre. But we all have to get to that point to find the balance that lies within. This is what creates clarity, providing the confidence to make a choice, calmly and with common sense.

“I’ve never lost perspective on who I am.

Well, maybe briefly, but generally I’m pretty balanced.”

– Sting, Singer & Libra

During this New Moon you find yourself drawn to serenity and order. Not only do Libras appreciate when things are in balance, they actually pursue where imbalances exist so they can repair them. So take some time to discover where in your life there are inequities or a need for integration.

“What is the American dream?

The American dream is one big tent.

One big tent.

And on that big tent you have four basic promises:

equal protection under the law, equal opportunity,

equal access, and fair share.”

– Jesse Jackson, Political Activist,

Baptist Minister, Politician & Libra

Lastly, Libras have exquisite taste and appreciate refinement. How can they not with Venus as their ruler? The goddess of love and beauty admires loveliness in all its forms – music, the arts, decorum. This also pertains to people, as they believe how you look on the outside reflects how you are on the inside.

“Fashion is not necessarily about labels.

It’s not about brands.

It’s about something else that comes from within you.”

– Ralph Lauren, Fashion Designer, Philanthropist,

Billionaire Businessman & Libra

So, carve out some time in your busy schedule for self-care. Take in an art display, go to the spa, pamper yourself. Find somewhere quiet to breathe and just be - scientific research states meditation helps restore balance, clarity and enhances relaxation, so make it part of your daily routine. Learn to still your mind, switch off and find peace within, even if you are feeling the exact opposite of calm.
